Future Not Followers aims to engage high school girls in a conversation about their current and future financial wellbeing. It is an interactive program that aims to encourage ambitious girls to follow their dreams and better understand the impact of money and the importance of financial freedom.
Future Not Followers is not your run-of-the-mill money course. It’s a holistic financial program that delves deep and teaches soft skills like building self-confidence and how to negotiate to add to school-taught financial literacy.
Future Not Followers aims to teach girls to talk confidently about their goals, encourage them to have ambition and work towards those goals in order to create their own path to financial freedom.
The earlier these conversations begin in a woman’s life, the more potential there is for developing lifelong skills that contribute to financial understanding and wellbeing. Ensuring this knowledge is passed on at an early age gives girls the best possible chance they have to develop the skills necessary to be financially independent.
Partnering with leading experts in the areas of goal setting, financial literacy, superannuation, career planning, employment pathways and budgeting, this four-week interactive program will take the students on a journey to help them realistically map out a plan to realise their career and business goals.
The Future Not Followers program was developed with funding from the NSW Government, and the pilot program was generated from Women NSW’s Council for Women’s Economic Opportunity (CWEO).
